Centre, Kerala on same page on Italian ship

New Delhi: The Union government today said it has not filed any affidavit in the Supreme Court on the detention of Italian ship 'Enrica Lexie' by Kerala police.
Commenting on reports in a section of the media that the Central government told the Supreme Court that Kerala police had no jurisdiction to detain the Italian Ship, Shipping Ministry said; 'Central Government has not filed any affidavit in the matter, nor any such instructions were given to the Government counsel.' In a statement this evening, the Ministry stated; 'There is no difference of opinion between the Centre and the State Government.' The Italian government today moved the apex court for quashing of the criminal proceedings initiated against two Italian marines for killing two Indian fishermen in Kerala.
