Thiruvananthapuram: The cost of employment guarantee scheme in the state has crossed Rs 100 crore last fiscal, which closed on March. It is for the first time that Kerala had spent such a huge amount on the scheme. Though the state had spent more on this, there has been no increase in average employment days.

The employment guarantee scheme aims to give 100 days of employment for each family. But in Kerala, work for only 44 days were given. Last year that was 35 days. National average is 39.85 days. This year when compared to previous year 49,180 families were benefitted.
