Kottayam: Home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that the project Care and Relief for Elders, that would provide security for elders staying alone at homes, would begin from May as part of the first anniversary of the UDF government.

Rs 10 crore would be spent for the project where police would visit elders at homes and assess the issues faced by them to provide needed security. The names of elders would be registered with the project.

The minister also added that a new system must be formed with central support and enroll all states in it to probe various cases and nab culprits. The system known as Crime and Criminal Tracing Networking System would come into effect within a year.

The project also aims to register cases online with national level networking system and when one case is registered the details would be available anywhere in India. The Minister said the state has already completed first level proceedings and computer system in police station would be upgraded. Wipro has prepared the software for the project and the deal has been signed with BSNL.
