Banned SIMI not functioning in Kerala, says Thiruvanchoor.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The Students Islamic Movement of India is not functioning in Kerala but
former activists of the banned outfit were carrying out their activities
under cover, Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told the assembly
today.
The State Intelligence Department has kept a close watch on the activities
of such organisations, Thiruvanchoor said during question hour.
Seven terror related cases, including the camp held by SIMI activists at
Wagamon, were handed over to the National Investigating Agency, he said.
Thiruvanchoor also brought to the notice of the House Union Home Minister P
Chidambaram''s statement that two or three organisations in the state seem
to be providing some kind of support to extremists.
However, the Union Minister had refused to divulge their names,
Thiruvanchoor said.
During his visit to the state on June 27, Chidambaram had said two or three
organisations seem to be providing some kind of support to extremist
outfits.
