Missing businesswoman fled Libya after threats from Gaddafi ally.

Missing businesswoman Carole Waugh fled Libya after being threatened by a senior member of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime, it can be revealed.

The wealthy oil executive is the focus of a police hunt after she disappeared more than two months ago from her central London home.
The 50-year-old had worked in the Libyan oil industry as an office and financial manager since 2000, but fled the country about three years ago. Her sudden departure came after she received the warning from one of Gaddafi’s allies.
Miss Waugh, who lived alone in a £650,000 flat in Marylebone, was last seen early in May when she was out shopping.
Since her disappearance her bank account has been plundered, her credit cards were used, and suspected fraudsters posed as members of her family in an attempt to sell her flat.
Detectives have been examining whether her private life, including the possibility that she advertised her services on adult websites, may be connected to her disappearance.
