Youth arrested in girl's murder
Varkala: Police arrested a youth in a case where a girl Liji succumbed to her injuries after being hit by a bike driven by a youth. The youth, Biju, who is related to Liji, was arrested by the police on Monday for interrogation. The incident happened on June 15.
Liji was working as a sales girl in a fancy center in Maithanam. The youth, after following her, tried to molest her and the terrified girl entered a house. Thinking that the youth had left, she continued her journey and the youth was hiding at the turning of the road. He tried to molest her. When she screamed for help, natives rushed out. In the melee, both fell on the ground and the youth, in a bid to flee, ran the bike over her body. She was first rushed to a private hospital in Varkala and then to Medical College where she succumbed to her injuries.
