Action plan to increase power production to 5000 MW in the offing Thiruvananthapuram: The meeting of the planning board has decided to form an action plan to increase power generation to 5000-mega watt. At present the state produces 1600 mega watt electricity. Without causing any harm to environment, the decision was to raise the power generation. To give direction on this, a three-member committee of departmental secretaries have been set up.  KSEB will take initiative to set up a project centering on coal, natural gas, water, solar power and wind. The board has been given direction to allot more power to agriculture-related industries. For basic development project, the sub committee led by E Sreedharan will give a report
