Aflalul Ulama course made equivalent to Plus two Thiruvananthapuram: The Aflalul Ulama course run by the Calicut university has been given the same recognition as plus two humanities course at a meeting of the State Curriculum committee here the other day. There are 12 papers for plus two and 11 papers in Aflalul Ulama. In plus two English, second language and a combination of science, commerce and humanities are present. In Humanities there are subjects on social studies and languages. In Aflalul Ulama, the subjects are Arabic, English and Classical Arabic literature, Islamic history, Islamic jurisprudence and Philosophy. The decision was taken as per the report of the sub committee appointed by the Curriculum committee. Though earlier too there were demands to make this certificate course equal to plus two, due to wide protest it was not recognized. When such courses are made equivalent to plus two it will become basic qualification for higher studies and will affect the quality of education, it was alleged.
