| The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has invited applications for the All India Entrance Examination for Agricultural Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes to be held on April 12 and 13 across the country. An all-India test for the award of Senior Research Fellowship to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the field of Agriculture and allied sciences will be conducted along with the examination. Based on the merit list, admission will be made to all seats at the ICAR deemed universities (Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the National Dairy Research Institute [NDRI], Karnal, and Master’s degree alone at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute and so on) and to 15 per cent of the seats of the Bachelor’s degree course and 25 per cent of the Master’s degree programme at the State agricultural universities; Central Agricultural University, Imphal; and Central universities with the Faculty of Agriculture (Banaras Hindu University, Visva-Bharati, Nagaland University and Aligarh Muslim University). Those who have passed Plus Two with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology or Agriculture or Horticulture (40 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the physically challenged) are eligible to apply for the undergraduate test. Age: between 17 and 23 as on August 31. A degree in Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Forestry, Agri Marketing and Cooperation, Food Science, Biotechnology, Basic and Allied Sciences and so on with minimum of 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade (50 per cent) are eligible to apply for the postgraduate test. Age: not less than 19 as on August 31. Those with a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline securing 60 per cent marks (50 per cent) are eligible to apply for the fellowship. BITSAT The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) has invited applications for a computer-based online test for admission to its integrated first degree programmes. The three-hour BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) comprising objective-type multiple-choice questions will be conducted between May 14 and June 1 in different centres in India and on the Dubai campus. BITS is a deemed university with campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai. Based on the test score, admission will be given to the BE Honours programme in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Biotechnology; the B.Pharm. (Honours) programme; the integrated M.Sc. (Honours) course in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics and Physics; and the M.Sc. Tech programme. Those who have passed Plus Two with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology with at least 75 per cent marks in aggregate in these Science subjects and at least 60 per cent in each and proficiency in English are eligible to apply. Only students who are appearing for the Plus Two examination in 2014 or who have passed the qualifying examination in 2013 will be considered. The test fee is Rs 1,900 (Rs. 1,400 for women). The final merit list will be available by May 20. Amrita Engineering Entrance Test Applications have been invited for the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination to held on April 13 for admission to the B.Tech. programme at the Amrita Schools of Engineering on the Ettimadai (Coimbatore), Bangalore and Amritapuri (Kollam) campuses. Applicants should have been born on or after July 1. Those who have passed Plus Two with a minimum aggregate of 60 per cent marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and not less than 55 per cent in each or have a diploma in engineering with minimum 60 per cent marks are eligible to apply. Those who appear the above qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible. Application form and information brochure can be had from designated post offices, select branches of Federal Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Axis Bank and Karur Vysya Bank on payment of Rs. 1,000. The issue of forms closes on March 21. Applications can be submitted online on www.amrita.edu. The completed application form, along with documents, should be sent to the Admission Coordinator, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritanagar (PO), Ettimadai, Coimbatore – 641 112 so as to reach there on or before March 24.
