WAYANAD: There are hints that Maoists have started making their appearance in Wayanad district. The police started suspecting their presence after they got information that a group of Maoists had reached Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Pookode. Police were told that a three-member gang including women landed on the college premise and threatened the students. Pro-Maoist posters were also put up in front of the university gate. In the search conducted by police on Wednesday, a bundle suspected to be containing explosives were found. The bomb squad has reached the place and is conducting the search. Thunderbolt team has also chipped in.
